Horse and Groom

The Horse and Groom, located on Curtain Road, was built early in the 1800s and recently recognised as the original entrance for Shakespeare's Curtain Theatre where Romeo and Juliet and Henry V debuted. The theatre, despite being demolished in 1598, still has a quarter of its structure probably existing beneath the venue according to the architects. The Museum of Shakespeare will be opening behind us very soon with an immersive state-of-the-art installation. The Horse & Groom has grown to be one of East London's most loved pubs. By day, we're a traditional East End tavern serving Classic & Craft Beers & Ales, cocktails, and premium drinks alongside a great food kitchen opening very soon. By night, we've played host to some of the best names in Dance music including Dimitri From Paris, Greg Wilson, Todd Terje, M.K and many more, with the venue's fantastic sound install and dance space. The venue has recently undergone an extensive full refurbishment over both floors, with brand new toilets, flooring, a new kitchen, increasing capacity to 250 on the ground floor and 100 on the first floor, and a garden at the back. Apart from being a fantastic pub and weekend party space, we can cater for Weddings, film and video shoots, media events, conferences, engagements, seasonal parties, and fashion parties. We pride ourselves on providing a versatile and vibrant space for all types of events. We look forward to welcoming you to experience our rich history and lively atmosphere.
