The Council Chamber
The Council Chamber dates from 1504 and holds an intimate, evocative character. Whitefriars Glass sets the windows, and the walls are panelled with plaques commemorating Knights and Dames of the Order of St John. The Gate's flanking towers contain a sixteenth-century spiral staircase that survived the Great Fire, the Library with its collection of manuscripts and incunabula, and the Malta Room, furnished with pieces from the palaces of Valletta and Mdina and hung with seventeenth-century panoramas of Valletta's fortifications. Venue hire can include private tours of these historic rooms.
